Tomb of the Eagles
(Isbister Chambered Cairn)
As part of Andrea's MA in archeological illustration and for her final piece, she travelled to The Tomb of the Eagles at South Ronaldsay, Orkney, Scotland to help illustrate a new guide book for the Isbister Chambered Cairn. Andrea's task was not a simple one. The site, bridging the gap between stoneage and present day, is on the exposed and rugged coast of South Orkney where the inclement weather make drawing a difficult task.
Andrea's illustrations feature throughout the book and are also displayed, and on sale at the visitor center where the story is told of life in a Bronze Age tomb.
Andrea also used photography throughout the project and used her skills of digital image manipulation to create the stunning cover for the guide book. Many of the images used in the cover are her own photographs and illustrations. For copies of the guide book please contact the Tomb of the Eagles visitor centre.
