December 2010

Commissioned by the Mary Rose Trust in 2010 for the new Mary Rose Museum opening in 2012. These three crew members show the crafts and skills they were responsible for during their time on board Henry 8th's flag ship the Mary Rose. The images were created from research into the characters using up to date literature from an idea of the skeletal remains found in the cabins associated with each of the characters.

The Mary Rose illustrations are all painted with acrylic on board and were commissioned to be displayed in order to enable learning, showing the various tools, clothing and tasks of the day. The Mary Rose Ship sank on 19th July 1545. Almost all persons on board were drowned. The recovered skeletons, incredibly well preserved artefacts (including cloth and leather items) and the remains of the ship itself have given us concise details about the crew, their ages and how they would have looked.
